The Non-Lucrative Residence Visa is intended for individuals who wish to reside in Spain without engaging in any work or professional activities. Eligibility criteria include:
- Sufficient and guaranteed means to support themselves and their family members.
- Visa applicants’ family members, including spouses, unmarried partners, dependent children, and dependent relatives in the ascending line, can also obtain this visa

Basic requirements for a Non lucrative visa
To apply for the Non-Lucrative Residence Visa, you must provide the following essential documents:
- Complete and sign the national visa application form.
- Complete and sign the Non-Lucrative Residence Visa application form (EX-01).
- A recent, passport-size, color photograph.
- A valid passport with a minimum 1-year validity and two blank pages.
- Proof of sufficient financial means to cover expenses during the initial year of residency, equivalent to 400% of Spain’s IPREM.
- Documentation verifying receipt of a pension or a termination letter from your employer if you’re of working age.
- Health insurance without co-pay, valid for 1 year, covering all visa beneficiaries for risks insured by Spain’s public health system.
- Criminal record check certificate(s) for the past 5 years, legalized with the “Apostille of The Hague” and translated into Spanish.
- Medical certificate confirming good health status, legalized as required.

A: Visa applications must be submitted in person by the applicant, or by a parent if the applicant is a minor. The application must be submitted to the Consular Office in the relevant jurisdiction.
A: The legal decision period is 3 months, but it may be extended if interviews or additional documents are needed.
A: Visa or residence permit refusals will be communicated in writing with reasons. Applicants can submit an appeal for reconsideration within 1 month, or they can apply for judicial review within 2 months of refusal.
A: The visa is initially valid for 90 days. Once in Spain, you must apply for a Foreigner Identity Card within 1 month of entry
